The asexual, non-monogamous, and single-parent-by-choice communities are often excluded or impacted by laws designed to protect the nuclear family structure. For too long, we've been left out of the conversation around marriage equality, housing rights, and child custody laws. Now, we're uniting our movements around a historic opportunity to pass local non-discrimination ordinances that protect chosen families and alliterative relationship structures.
Join us as we come together for a discussion about how we fight for our rights together. We'll be gathering at 7PM on Thursday, January 26th at a beautiful cooperative house in Oakland. The discussion will be hosted by OPEN (Organization for Polyamory & Ethical Non-monogamy), PolyActive, and AVEN (Asexual Visibility and Education Network).
Special Guest - We are honored to have openly poly and newly elected Oakland City Councilmember Janani Ramachandran join us.
Gathering - Relax at Euclid Manor, in a cuddle-friendly large squish-filled room with new and old friends as we unite to move forward with the historical opportunities that are before us.
Child Friendly - This event is child friendly, and we have plans for a small child activity area in an adjacent room.
COVID Safety - We understand that what is an acceptable level of risk is personal choice. To help inform your choice and to keep our community safe, we ask that only fully vaccinated and boosted guests attend. Additionally, we ask you to have a negative rapid covid test on the day of the event. Masks will be available at the door but not required. Please only attend if you are feeling well, even with a negative test.
